Siksha-Niketan translated as the “Abode of Learning” is an institution for the underprivileged children in rural India. This institution, established in the late 1940’s and registered in 1953 as a society by Late Sri Bijoy Kumar Bhattacharya, has been serving the poor farmers in the villages around Kalanabagram free of cost, for over seventy years. Built on the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi’s “BuniyadiSiksha” (Basic Education), Siksha-Niketan runs a very unique program of education which emphasises on vocational and values education alongside an academic curriculum.
